Thursday Evening Ceramics Workshops

Every Thursday from 6:30–8:30pm, join Claire Cushnahan at Eastcott Studios, Swindon for hands-on hand-building workshops for adults.

Explore the three core hand-building techniques:

  • Pinch pots – a simple, intuitive method of shaping clay using your hands and fingers to form small cup like vessels. Perfect for beginners, this technique helps you connect directly with the material and create organic, tactile forms.

  • Coiling – building up forms using rolled coils of clay, allowing you to create taller, more sculptural vessels. This technique offers freedom to experiment with shape, flow and structure.

  • Slab building – working with rolled-out sheets of clay to construct more structured pieces such as butter dishes, trays and angular forms. This method is ideal for exploring surface design, pattern and decorative detail.

Across the sessions, you’ll explore form, surface decoration and pattern, developing your own style at your own pace.

These workshops take place in a friendly, welcoming environment where you can meet new people, relax, and enjoy the tactile, meditative process of working with clay. Suitable for all abilities (18+), whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to develop your skills further.

Workshops are £18 per session, or you can book a 6-week block for £100 to secure your place and build a consistent creative practice.

Booking & Payment

  • Pay As You Go sessions are non-refundable once booked

  • 6-week block bookings are refundable only if cancelled at least 14 days before the start date, allowing time for the space to be filled

  • Block bookings are payable in advance via BACS or PayPal (details provided upon booking)

  • A card machine is available for those who wish to pay on the night
